What Happens to Cause Root Decay?

Posted on 2/20/2018 by Boeckel
Root Decay Lisa Gitelson, DMD OR 97224-3790Root decay does happen while leaving the rest of the tooth untouched.

This is something that can only happen if the root of the tooth is exposed or when the tooth is unattached from the gums.

This then means that the root of the tooth is eating down and damaged because of the decay that is happening on the outside of the tooth.

This can become painful for the person and it can also mean that they lose those teeth that have the cavities on the outside.

Root Decay

When root decay happens, it can be a mix of not having the proper oral hygiene and care or it can be caused by medications or certain medical conditions. As a person ages, it can also cause the gums to recede.

This leaves the roots of the teeth open and able to have decay on the outsides of them. You do not want something like this to happen to the outside of the teeth. You want to protect them at all costs and with the right treatment plan, the person can have a beautiful smile once again.

When the teeth have decay, it is very important that they are cleaned and cared for since this can lead to infection in the mouth. This infection can cause further problems with the body, so it is important to speak with a qualified dentist that can provide the necessary treatment on the decayed teeth.

If you find that you have root decay, it is important to speak with a professional that is able to help with the cleaning that is required on the teeth. You should never have to worry about losing teeth or other issues that can arise from tooth decay when you take the best care of your teeth in the end. This is always a good thing and you can always make sure that you smile with confidence, without the root decay.
